GCAA has continued to invest on expansive future projects considered as the greatest expansion plans the GCAA has embarked upon so far. However, the constantly expanding air transport business does not permit GCAA to merely provide a service for the present only. The GCAA in their forward view of the industry must strive to be always one step ahead of the customer we provide the services for.

For the Air Navigation Services (ANS) the GCAA are currently designing a modern new site equipped with the latest ATM facilities in a new Area Control Centre (ACC) and an adjacent Emergency Area Control Centre (EACC) due to start in late 2005. The combination of these two buildings will ensure the full ANS service will be provided for the next 20 years with maximum probability under all circumstances.

To meet the expanding needs of the airlines the Flight Safety Services group have identified the staff expansion for their Inspectorate and Licensing sections for the next fifteen years. This will be met by the construction of a new purpose-built office facility at the current Dubai Regional Office due for completion in November 2005.

The GCAA also recognize the value and usefulness of the fast moving Information Technology principles being directed by the UAE government. In order to enhance this technology and pass on the benefits to our customers GCAA are planning to promote E-Licensing for the FSS Department, which will be a benchmark for the aviation industry.

To support this expanding, the GCAA Administrative department will progress towards a Document Management System to phase in a ‘paperless’ work environment. Similarly, to enhance flexibility and versatility in the workplace GCAA will move over to a wireless internal network system and the IP Telephony.

This combination of evolution within expansion is a firm policy within GCAA and will ensure GCAA becomes a Civil Aviation Portal for the future always maintaining its lead position.
